About the Event
Griffin started his own band when he was 18 and began performing at different venues around Sydney. Over the years he's played at many places around Australia including Brisbane (Doo-Bop Jazz Bar), Perth (The Ellington) and Melbourne (The Jazz Lab). He also appears regularly at Sydney's Foundry 616.
He recorded his debut album "Unexpected Greeting' with the ABC, and is recording 3 albums this year for Fine Music. He was a semifinalist in the 2013 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition in Washington D.C (the world's most prestigious Jazz competition), There he had a chance to meet some of the world's biggest jazz giants including Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Branford Marsalis, Jimmy Heath and many others.
